Fifa 12 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2012?

Lets be frank, Pro Evolution (widely known as Winning Eleven) has dominated the Kuwaiti market for as long as I could remember. However, things changed the past two years. Personally, I noticed an immense shift in taste from PES to Fifa. I’ve asked myself why so many times, but for some reason I can’t put my finger on it. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far.

First of all, in recent editions, Fifa’s game play has improved in leaps and bounds. They have fixed their passing system, trick system, shooting system and the goalkeeper is actually part of the game. In my opinion, PES’s latest edition brought nothing new to the table. Nevertheless, the speedy game play and their player control are simply out of this world. In addition, some debate the fact that Fifa’s game play is realistic as opposed to PES; I respectfully disagree. Video games aren’t meant to be realistic, or else where’s the fun?

Moving on, Football rights have played a huge part in Fifa’s success. Sure you can download patches to mimic the real thing on PES but it’s just not the same. Logos, kits, cleats, balls and stadiums are all accurate thanks to the rights that Fifa have obtained. I mean, would you prefer playing with Manchester City or Man Blue? Believe it or not, most of my friends have abandoned PES for that very reason.  Loyalty is in my nature; so shifting from PES wasn’t an option. Yes, I do play Fifa, and yes I do enjoy it. But there’s always that sweet spot for PES. What do you think? Play both games, and let us know who you’re backing in the comments.
