Just when we thought the App store couldn’t get any better, Apple goes ahead and launches a Food and Drink category. The category initially launched with 7,600 apps; that’s a lot of browsing, and truthfully some apps are really useful, others are brilliant, and some are just a waste of good space. You’re probably wondering if this fresh category includes apps on Arab Cuisines… The answer is yes. Honestly, I’m not one to stand over a stove and dwell over my Tahineh, but all the rich recipes captivated me. You can find apps that discuss Khaleeji recipes, Lebanese recipes, Egyptian recipes and even Mediterranean recipes.
According to Apple, the new category will include “apps that help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink”. Food & Drink won’t include diet, grocery shopping, coupon clipping, or food-related game apps.”
Believe it or not, there are apps that help you find restaurants in Kuwait! There are also directories for numbers and home delivery services.
So if you’re willing to learn a new western recipe or surprise your family with their favorite Lebanese dish just in time for Ramadan, The Food and Drink category on the app store is the hotspot for you. A whole new world of cooking techniques, recipes and much more is literally a couple of taps away on your beloved iPhone or iPad.
There you have it. Which category would you like to see next on Apple’s remarkable app store? Let us know in the comments.
