As you all know, on September 10, 2013 Apple’s long awaited keynote presentation took place. The presentation brought 2 surprises; the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Truth be told, it wasn’t much of a surprise as much as it was a confirmation of all the rumours we have heard. Rumours were flying around for weeks around the two different models, and their features. From the affordable iPhone 5c to the fingerprint passcode in the iPhone 5s, most rumours proved true.
The new Apple smartphone was described as “ahead of its time” and what is “technologically useful”. I watched the presentation, and listened to the keynote’s speaker every word. Both iPhone’s stood out in design and features. Both iPhone‘s differentiate themselves from their precedent iPhone 5 and in fact all smartphones.
Which iPhone do you prefer? Well, let’s take a closer look at both.
To start with design, the iPhone 5s is identical in appearance to the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5s is 7.6 mm thin, and 112 grams light. The only big difference between the phones is the Home Button. Apple has taken the concept of touch screen to a whole new level. The Home Button in the new iPhone 5s serves as a fingerprint identity sensor. In other words, your fingerprint is now your passcode. Besides this ground breaking sensor, what really stands out in the iPhone’s new design is the new gold colour. So instead of the original grey, and silver, you now have the option of gold (I’m definitely getting the gold).
Now, on to the really important stuff, the iPhone’s features. First of all, the iPhone 5s is the first 64-bit smartphone. Basically, a 64-bit smartphone means that you have a desktop in an unbelievable thin phone. In other words, you have a really fast smartphone. Built with an A7 chip, the iPhone 5s is nearly twice as fast than any other phone, including the iPhone 5. With the brand new iPhone comes an exceptional new camera. The iPhone 5s camera represents the most advanced technology. This 8MP camera includes everything from a larger sensor, true tone flash, to slow-motion video option. Not to mention, all other features such as panorama photos, or even editing filters.
Did you ever think a pink iPhone would exist? How about a green one? Well, now with the iPhone 5c you have pink, green, white, blue, and even yellow. The iPhone 5c is a whole new iPhone. It is entirely a new experience, and completely different “through and through”. Apple has stated that the iPhone 5c has everything that made the iPhone 5 great, and more. The new iPhone’s design is similar to the previous iPhone 5, yet differs with its plastic casing. Not to worry though, the plastic casing is built with a steel-reinforced frame and is laser-welded together.
The best part of the iPhone is its battery. Apple has always been proud of their devices battery life, and this phone isn’t any different. The iPhone 5c is built with an A6 chip, guaranteeing efficiency and speed, without affecting your battery. In addition, the iPhone 5c features an 8MP camera perfect for snapping photos, and shooting videos. The new Apple iPhone includes a 4-inch retina display touch screen, as well as coloured backgrounds to match the iPhone.
Apple has once again took the iPhone to a whole new level. The differences are minor, yet significant. From the sensor Home Button to the enhanced camera to the coloured outer shell, the new iPhones are remarkable. Personally, I prefer the iPhone 5s. I actually can’t wait to get my hands on the gold iPhone 5s. Only a few more weeks, and we’ll have it right here at X-cite.
